Easy Sausage Pizza Bake

Satisfying sausage and cheese casserole with a quick and easy Bisquick crust, ideal for pizza nights.
Ingredients:
  • 8 oz ground sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 jar (14 oz) pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 oz)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 13x9-inch pan.
  • Brown the ground sausage in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat. Transfer the cooked sausage onto a paper towel to drain using a slotted spoon. Leave 2 tablespoons of drippings in the pan. Cook diced onion until translucent without browning. Add sliced mushrooms and salt, cook until mushrooms are softened and onions are caramelized. Remove from heat.
  • Combine Bisquick mix and water in a medium bowl until a soft dough forms. Spoon half of the dough into the pan, ensuring it doesn't completely cover the bottom of the pan.
  • Spread a generous layer of pizza sauce on the dough and top with a liberal amount of cheese, followed by a scattering of the sausage mixture. Repeat with another layer of dough, sauce, cheese, and sausage mixture, building up those delicious flavors.
  • Bake until golden brown, then serve hot.
