Indulge in a perfectly delicious homemade vanilla cake - light, fluffy, and irresistible for every occasion!
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/4 cups (288g) cake or all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups (300g) sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup (57g) very soft unsalted butter
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup neutral oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons (4 1/2 teaspoons) vanilla extract
  • 1 batch Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper for easy cake release.
  • In a spacious mixing bowl, gently blend the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt until fully combined.
  • Incorporate the softened butter into the dry mixture using a hand mixer on low speed until fully combined, resulting in a sandy texture.
  • Whisk together the milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla until well combined in a medium-sized bowl or 4-cup measuring cup.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients: Pour the wet mixture into the flour and butter, beating with a hand mixer until just a few streaks of flour are visible. Finish mixing with a silicone spatula, then pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake until perfect: Bake the cake for 25 to 30 minutes until the top springs back when touched and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let it cool completely on a rack before removing and decorating.
