Family-friendly New Year's Eve tradition where all ages can participate in making this crowd-pleasing drink comprised of simple one-measure ingredients, loved by generations from all walks of life. Customizable with various spirits like bourbon, whiskey, rum, or brandy - just please, no vodka! Original recipe called for a quart of whiskey, but a pint is just right for perfecting this classic.
Ingredients:
  • 1 quart milk
  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • 12 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pint whiskey
  • 12 egg whites
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • Combine the milk, cream, egg yolks, vanilla, and whiskey in a large bowl. Blend with a hand mixer until smooth. In another bowl, whip egg whites until soft peaks form. Slowly add sugar while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the yolk mixture. Pour the mixture into a punch bowl or large pitcher. Serve in mugs or cups with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.
