Introducing a velvety and fluffy roux frosting for your sweet treats. This unique method combines flour, milk, and butter for a silky, low-sugar alternative to traditional buttercream. Perfect for cupcakes and cakes.
Ingredients:
  • 215g (1 cup) caster sugar
  • 250ml (1 cup) milk
  • 200g butter, chopped, at room temperature
  • 4.40 gm vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, combine the sugar and flour. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking until smooth. Cook over low heat, whisking continuously, until the mixture boils and thickens. Whisk vigorously for another minute.
  • Once mixture is transferred to a bowl, let it sit for 5 minutes to cool slightly, whisking occasionally. Cover the surface with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until completely cooled.
  • Beat butter in a bowl with electric beaters until pale and creamy. Slowly add the milk mixture, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla until well combined.
