Ingredients:
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 cup Water, municipal
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 5 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour, or more as needed
  • 0.25 cup cornmeal, or as needed
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, whisk together yeast, honey, and 1/4 cup of warm water. Allow the mixture to stand for about 10 minutes to dissolve.
  • Stir in salt, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, the remaining 3/4 cup of warm water, and 1 cup of flour until a batter forms. Mix in another 1 cup of flour, then add 1/2 cup more flour and combine.
  • Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until it becomes smooth, slightly firm, and just a bit sticky, adding extra flour if necessary.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with a damp towel. Allow it to rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Transfer dough to a floured cutting board and gently press with your palm. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces, then shape each piece into round pizza dough by stretching, folding, and tucking.
  • Cover the dough with a cozy towel and allow it to rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, which should take about 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and sprinkle cornmeal on a baking sheet.
  • On a lightly floured surface, gently press each dough round to your preferred thickness, starting from the center and working outwards until it reaches 8 to 10 inches wide. Use your fingertips to create a crust around the edges.
  • Place the pizza dough on the baking sheet and generously brush it with 1 tablespoon of aromatic olive oil. Add your favorite sauce and toppings to customize your pizza.
  • Begin by baking on the lower rack of the preheated oven for 5 minutes. Then, transfer to the center of the oven and bake until golden, approximately 10 more minutes. Repeat for the remaining pizzas.
