Zesty Filipino beef steak marinated in tangy lemon juice and soy sauce, pan-seared to perfection, topped with crispy fried onion and garlic.
Ingredients:
  • 4 pounds New York strip steak, sliced thin
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, combine sliced beef with a zesty marinade made from whisking together lemon juice, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper. Make sure the beef is well coated. Add cornstarch and mix thoroughly. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight to enhance the flavors.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet until shimmering.
  • Take out the beef slices from the marinade and give them a good shake to eliminate any extra liquid. Dispose of the marinade.
  • Fry beef slices in hot oil until they are golden brown on the outside and juicy in the center, about 2 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer the beef slices to a serving platter.
  • In a small skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until golden brown, about 5 to 7 minutes. Spoon the mixture over beef slices.
