Spicy firehouse chili paste perfect for chicken, pork, or snacks. Heat increases over time. Easy to adjust spiciness with red pepper.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (46 fluid ounce) bottle ketchup
  • 1.5 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons red pepper flakes, or to taste
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan, combine ketchup and vinegar, ensuring to shake the ketchup bottle and pour in any remaining ketchup. Set the bottle aside for later use, then stir in brown sugar, butter, and red pepper flakes. Heat over medium heat until almost boiling, being careful not to let it boil. You can store any extra sauce in the cleaned ketchup bottle for easy storage.
