French bread rolls: crispy crust, chewy texture. Easily made in mixer, bread maker, or by hand. Delicious!
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow the mixture to sit until it becomes creamy, approximately 10 minutes.
  • Combine 2 cups of flour, oil, and salt with the yeast mixture. Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough comes together and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it until smooth and elastic, approximately 8 minutes.
  • Oil a large bowl, add the dough, and coat it evenly. Cover with a damp cloth and allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
  • Release the air from the dough and transfer it onto a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into 16 equal pieces and shape them into round balls.
  • Grease 2 baking sheets. Space rolls at least 2 inches apart on sheets and cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled in volume, approximately 40 minutes. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Bake rolls in the preheated oven until they turn a beautiful golden brown, approximately 18-20 minutes.
