Upgrade your weeknight dinner with a delicious Shepherd's Pie featuring French Onion Soup for a rich and savory twist.
Ingredients:
  • 5 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
  • 0.125 cup milk
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper, or more to taste
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed French onion soup
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 cup frozen peas
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to create the perfect cooking environment for your dish.
  • In a large pot, submerge the potatoes under salted water and bring to a boil. Simmer gently over medium-low heat until tender, around 10 minutes. Drain the potatoes.
  • Combine mashed potatoes with a delightful blend of creamy Cheddar cheese, milk, fresh green onion, and velvety butter until perfectly combined.
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef with flour and pepper until browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Add French onion soup and water, stir to combine.
  • Microwave frozen peas in a small bowl for 1 minute. Stir warm peas into the beef and soup mixture.
  • Transfer the savory meat and soup blend into a glass casserole dish. Layer potatoes evenly on top with a rubber spatula, then generously sprinkle with the remaining Cheddar cheese and a touch more pepper for added flavor.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until it's hot and bubbly.
