Quick and easy homemade dessert!
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 cups sliced fresh peaches (6 medium)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Cream, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Add peaches and lemon juice, stirring well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil. Let it boil for 1 minute. Transfer the peach mixture into an ungreased 2-quart casserole dish and keep it warm in the oven.
  • Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut the shortening into the flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, baking powder, and salt until the mixture resembles fine crumbs. Then, stir in the milk and drop the dough in 6 spoonfuls onto the hot peach mixture.
  • Bake until topping is beautifully golden, about 25-30 minutes. Enjoy warm with a dollop of cream, if desired.
