Beer-boiled shrimp cooked with butter, onions, garlic, and herbs for a delicious peel-and-eat dish, perfect for serving hot or cold.
Ingredients:
  • cold water, as needed
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer
  • 2 tablespoons red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon pickling spice
  • 1 teaspoon dried Mexican oregano
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 pound raw shrimp
Instructions:
  • Combine beer, onion, red pepper flakes, parsley, salt, butter, garlic, pickling spice, oregano, and bay leaves in a saucepan, then fill with cold water until ingredients are submerged. Bring to a boil.
  • Add the shrimp to the boiling liquid and cook until they turn vibrant pink and the center is no longer transparent, approximately 5 minutes. Drain the shrimp.
