"Indulge in a decadent strawberry layer cake, perfect for entertaining or gatherings."
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.66666668653488 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 0.5 cup lard
  • 1 cup pureed fresh strawberries, or more to taste
  • 1 (16 ounce) container vanilla buttercream frosting
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
  • In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Mix together the milk, vinegar, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
  • Cream together the sugar and lard in a mixing bowl with an electric mixer until creamy. Mix in the eggs until well combined. Alternate adding the flour mixture, milk mixture, and strawberry puree in 3 dry and 2 wet additions. Beat the batter for 1 minute until smooth. Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared pans.
  • Gently tap cake pans on the countertop 2 to 3 times to remove any air bubbles.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centers comes out clean. Let cool on wire racks for 10 minutes, then turn out onto the rack to cool completely for 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Frost the chilled cake with vanilla frosting between the layers, on top, and around the sides.
