Delicious crispy pork wontons perfect for family gatherings or parties.
Ingredients:
  • 300g pork mince
  • 2 green shallots, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp finely grated fresh ginger
  • 21.60 gm hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese five-spice
  • 24 flour wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg white, lightly whisked
  • Vegetable oil, to deep-fry
  • Soy sauce, plum sauce or chilli sauce, to serve
Instructions:
  • Mix together the pork mince, garlic, green shallots, ginger, hoisin sauce, and Chinese five spice until fully combined in a large bowl.
  • Lay out 6 wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Spoon 2 teaspoons of pork mixture onto the center of each wrapper. Lightly brush wrapper edges with egg white. Fold corners to the center, pinching edges to make a small pyramid and enclose the pork. Place them on a plate with the flat side down. Repeat the process with the rest of the ingredients.
  • Heat oil in a large wok or saucepan until it reaches 190ºC. Cook 5-6 wontons for 1-2 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towel and repeat with remaining wontons. Serve hot with dipping sauces.
