Elegant cookies made effortlessly with Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix, a perfect pairing with your favorite drink.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • Flour, butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch for cutout cookies
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons Chardonnay wine
  • 2 tablespoons edible yellow pearls
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (350°F for dark or nonstick cookie sheet), then mix cookie ingredients in a medium bowl until a dough forms.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it's 1/4-inch thick, then use a 1 1/2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Place the cutouts 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake until lightly golden, for 7 to 9 minutes. Let cool for 1 minute, then transfer to a cooling rack. Allow to cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to beat 1/4 cup of butter, shortening, and vanilla until light and fluffy, about 30 seconds. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating on low speed until well blended after each addition. Mix in 2 tablespoons of wine until frosting is smooth and spreadable. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of wine if frosting is too thick.
  • Top the cooled cookies with a luscious layer of frosting and embellish with delightful edible pearls.
