Elevate your quiche Lorraine with a garlic bread crust. Grease dish, pour in egg mixture, bake (don't wait too long), and remove easily with a spatula.
Ingredients:
  • 450g packet garlic bread
  • 250g rindless bacon rashers, finely chopped
  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped
  • 20.00 ml chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • 55g (1/2 cup) grated gruyère
  • 62.50 ml chopped fresh chives
  • 8 eggs
  • 300g carton sour cream
  • 185ml (3/4 cup) milk
  • 25g butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C/160C fan forced and generously grease a 5cm-deep, 22cm round pie dish.
  • Slice the garlic bread pieces in half to create thinner slices. Place half of the slices on the base of a prepared dish, using the uneven pieces for the base. Arrange the remaining slices along the sides of the dish. Tear any leftover slices into pieces to fill any gaps in between.
  • In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, heat oil. Cook bacon, onion, and thyme, stirring occasionally, for 8 minutes until the onion softens and the bacon turns light golden. Remove from heat and transfer to the prepared dish. Sprinkle gruyère cheese and most of the chives on top.
  • In a large jug, combine eggs, sour cream, and milk. Season to taste. Transfer the mixture to a prepared baking dish. Bake for 40 minutes until golden and set.
  • In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine butter and garlic, then microwave until melted. Stir in the remaining chives and brush the butter mixture over the quiche.
