Try this irresistible twist on a steak sandwich for garlic bread aficionados.
Ingredients:
  • 4 x 100g beef fillet steaks
  • 27.30 gm olive oil
  • 1 large brown onion, thinly sliced
  • 20.00 gm MasterFoodsⓇ Texan Style Smokey Rub
  • 50g butter
  • 1 tsp Crushed Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Mixed Herbs
  • 20.00 ml chopped fresh parsley
  • 8 slices good-quality sourdough bread
  • 100g Colby cheese, thinly sliced
  • 100g mozzarella, thinly sliced
  • Oak leaf lettuce, to serve
  • sliced baby tomatoes, to serve
  • thinly sliced red onion, to serve
Instructions:
  • Flatten the beef between plastic wrap to desired thickness. Heat some oil in a large non-stick frying pan. Sauté the onion for 5 minutes until soft. Set aside. Rub Texan spices on both sides of the steaks. Heat more oil in the same pan. Sear steaks for 30 seconds on each side or until done to your preference. Remove from pan.
  • Mix the butter, garlic, herbs, and parsley in a small bowl. Spread the butter mixture on one side of each slice of bread. Place 4 slices butter-side down on a clean surface. Layer with onion, cheeses, and steak evenly. Top with the rest of the bread slices with the butter-side up.
  • After cleaning the pan, heat it over medium heat. Cook half of the sandwiches for 3 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese has melted. Repeat the process with the rest of the sandwiches.
  • Garnish with fresh garden salad and enjoy right away.
