German Chocolate Bars

Indulgent bars with the flavors of German chocolate cake, a delightful twist on classic brownies.
Ingredients:
  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Delights Super Moist™ German Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tub (15.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Coconut Pecan Frosting
  • 3 tablespoons milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and lightly grease the bottom and sides of a 13x9-inch pan.
  • Combine the butter and cake mix in a medium bowl using a fork until crumbly. Set aside 1 cup of the mixture. Press the remaining mixture into the bottom of the pan.
  • Bake for 10 minutes until golden. Sprinkle a generous amount of chocolate chips over the baked layer. Dollop the frosting by tablespoonfuls over the chocolate chips. Mix the milk into the reserved cake mixture. Drop spoonfuls of the cake mixture onto the frosting layer.
  • Bake for 24 to 28 minutes until the cake top is slightly dry. Let it cool for 10 minutes, then loosen the edges with a knife. Cool completely and refrigerate until firm. Cut into 8 rows by 6 rows for bars and store loosely covered.
