Indulgent bars with Gold Medal® flour, blending decadent German chocolate cake and luscious pecan pie flavors into a heavenly treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 3/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 3 cups broken pecans, toasted
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 13x9-inch pan with heavy-duty foil, leaving a 2 to 3-inch overhang on two opposite sides. Grease the foil with cooking spray.
  • Combine flour, powdered sugar, cocoa, and 3/4 cup butter in a food processor. Pulse until texture resembles coarse meal. Press mixture into bottom and 3/4 inch up the sides of the pan.
  • After baking for 15 minutes, generously sprinkle chocolate chips over the crust. Allow it to cool completely in the pan on a cooling rack for around 30 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, and eggs until smooth. Mix in coconut and pecans. Spread mixture over crust. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and firm. Allow to cool completely in the pan for about 1 hour, then refrigerate for 1 hour. Use foil to lift the bars out of the pan onto a cutting board. Cut into 6 rows by 4 rows.
