Create one-of-a-kind giant cupcake using 33 cupcakes, topped with buttercream and colorful candies.
Ingredients:
  • 33 vanilla cupcakes
  • 1kg salted butter, roughly chopped, softened
  • 2kg soft icing sugar mixture
  • Purple and red gel food colouring
  • Jelly beans, to decorate
Instructions:
  • Place cupcakes in a cascading row pattern on a 50cm x 40cm cake board, starting with 3 cupcakes in the first row and gradually increasing and decreasing the number of cupcakes in each subsequent row to create a visually appealing display.
  • Make the buttercream in 2 batches. In an electric mixer bowl, cream 500g of butter until pale and creamy. Mix in 1kg of icing sugar on low until combined, then beat on high speed until whipped.
  • In a bowl, combine 1/3 of the buttercream with a few drops of purple gel color, mixing until you reach your desired shade. Then, in a separate small bowl, mix ¼ cup of the remaining buttercream with a few drops of red gel color until you achieve your desired color. Lastly, leave the rest of the buttercream uncolored or add whitener for a lighter shade.
  • Prepare a 40cm disposable piping bag with a 1cm round nozzle. Fill the bag with purple buttercream and pipe an outline around the first 3 rows of cupcakes. Proceed to fill the outlines with lines of icing. Using a crank handled spatula, carefully smooth the icing. Finally, in one fluid motion, vertically etch lines into the icing for a beautiful finish.
  • Prepare a 40cm disposable piping bag with a 1cm round nozzle. Fill it with the white buttercream. Pipe swirls on each cupcake, filling in any gaps between them with a small amount of buttercream.
  • Prepare a piping bag with a delicate 0.5mm round nozzle and fill it with vibrant red buttercream. Create an elegant swirl on the top cupcake. Garnish the remaining white cupcakes with a sprinkle of colorful jelly beans and place a black jelly bean on the red buttercream "cherry" for a delightful touch.
