Savor a refreshing gin cocktail infused with fresh herbs, citrus, and celery bitters, finished with a touch of salt.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 (6-inch long) Persian cucumber, chopped into large pieces
  • 8 large fresh basil leaves
  • 4 ounces gin
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup
  • 1/2 ounce Lillet
  • 4 dashes celery bitters
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions:
  • Chill the coupe glasses by filling two 4-ounce glasses with ice and water.
  • Prepare the lemon: Use a Y-shaped vegetable peeler to peel 2 long strips of lemon rind, each about 3 inches. Make a 1-inch slit in the middle of each strip with a paring knife, being careful not to cut through. Juice the lemon into a container for later use.
  • Muddle the cucumber and basil: In a cocktail shaker, gently press and bruise the cucumber and basil with a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon to release their oils and juices.
  • Combine gin, 1 ounce lemon juice, Lillet, simple syrup, bitters, and salt in a shaker. Fill halfway with ice and shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds until chilled.
  • Prepare the chilled glasses by discarding the ice water. Strain the cocktail evenly into the glasses. Garnish by securing lemon peels on the rim. Serve immediately.
