Tataki: Japanese-style fish or meat dish flavored with pounded ginger for a unique & delicious taste.
Ingredients:
  • 600g beef eye fillet, excess fat trimmed
  • 60ml soy sauce
  • 40.00 ml mirin
  • 5 green onions, trimmed, thinly sliced
  • 42.00 gm lemon juice
  • 16.00 gm brown sugar
  • 2 tsp finely grated fresh ginger
  • 250g bean sprouts, trimmed
  • 5 green onions, trimmed, thinly sliced, extra
  • 20.00 ml sesame oil
  • 42.00 gm sushi soy sauce, extra
  • 42.00 gm lemon juice, extra
Instructions:
  • Season the beef generously with salt and pepper. In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil until shimmering. Sear the beef for 10 minutes, flipping occasionally, until it is beautifully browned all over. Remove from heat, tent with foil, and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • In a large baking dish, mix together soy sauce, mirin, green onion, lemon juice, sugar, garlic, and ginger with any pan juices. Coat the beef in the marinade, then chill in the fridge for 1 hour to enhance the flavors.
  • Combine bean sprouts, additional green onions, and sesame oil in a medium bowl. Thinly slice the beef and place on serving plates. Top the beef with bean sprouts. Mix extra soy sauce and lemon juice, serve in small dipping bowls with the beef tataki.
