Indulge in classic, chewy molasses cookies with a hint of spice - a simple homemade delight!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add molasses and egg, then mix in all ingredients except 3 tablespoons sugar until fully combined.
  • In a small bowl, pour in 3 tablespoons of sugar. Scoop out tablespoonfuls of dough and roll them into balls, then coat them in sugar. Place the sugar-coated dough balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake until golden brown for 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer from the cookie sheet to a cooling rack.
