Elevate breakfast with savory scones ready in 35 minutes!
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter or margarine, cut into 8 pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • 1/4 cup candied ginger, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F. In a medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Use a pastry blender or 2 table knives to cut in the butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs. Mix in buttermilk until a dough forms a ball, then stir in the dates and ginger.
  • Place 1/3 cupfuls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  • Bake until golden brown, then promptly transfer from the baking sheet and enjoy while warm.
