Kids will enjoy baking and decorating festive biscuits, perfect for gifting or adorning the tree. Customize with a mix of fun cookie cutters.
Ingredients:
  • 300 g plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 125 g unsalted butter
  • 100 g soft light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons golden syrup
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC/gas 4 and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, bicarbonate of soda, and spices. In a pan over low heat, melt the butter, sugar, and golden syrup until sugar dissolves, then add to the dry ingredients. Stir until a stiff dough forms, then divide in half. Place each portion of dough on the lined baking sheets, roll out to 5mm thickness, and cut out shapes, leaving space between each. Transfer the parchment paper back to the baking sheets and bake the gingerbread for about 12 minutes until lightly golden. Let them cool for a few minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a wire rack. Once cooled, decorate the gingerbread men with icing, sprinkles, sweets, and edible glitter.
