Savor a delicious gingerroot and pear bread for dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups chopped unpeeled pears (3 medium)
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped gingerroot
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease only the bottoms of 2 loaf pans (measuring 8x4 inches) with shortening. In a large bowl, combine pears, sugar, oil, gingerroot, and eggs. Mix in the rest of the ingredients until fully incorporated. Pour the mixture into the prepared pans.
  • Bake for 60 to 65 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans onto a wire rack. Let cool completely for about 1 hour before slicing.
