Caramelize vegetables with sugar and balsamic for a delicious mix of earthy and sweet flavors.
Ingredients:
  • 5 small turnips, peeled and cut into 1-inch dice
  • 5 carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch dice
  • 2 parsnips, peeled and cut into 1-inch dice
  • 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch dice
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 0.25 cup balsamic vinegar
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Arrange turnips, carrots, parsnips, and sweet potatoes in a large skillet in a single layer. Pour enough water to cover but not fully submerge the vegetables. Add sugar and balsamic vinegar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until the liquid evaporates and vegetables are tender, about 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper before serving.
