Delicious sugar cookies with toasted sesame seeds. Easily double the recipe without extra butter for a delightful treat.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.75 cup sesame seeds, toasted
Instructions:
  • Spread sesame seeds in a pie pan and bake at 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) for approximately 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine butter (or margarine) and vanilla until light and fluffy. Gradually add confectioners' sugar, beating until fluffy. Mix in the egg thoroughly.
  • Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt, sifting together. Gradually add this mixture in thirds to the creamed mixture, stirring in toasted sesame seeds after each addition. Mix until blended. Cover the dough and chill for at least 2 hours.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect baking temperature.
  • Roll out the dough in thirds on a lightly floured surface until 1/8 inch thick. Use a 2-inch scalloped cutter to cut out the cookies and transfer them to ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
