Southern comfort dish with shrimp, potatoes, corn, and smoked sausage.
Ingredients:
  • 3 quarts water
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 1 medium onion, halved
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • coarse salt to taste
  • 1 (3 ounce) package dry crab boil
  • 1.5 pounds medium red potatoes, scrubbed
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 4 ears fresh corn, shucked and broken in half
  • 1.5 pounds unpeeled, large fresh shrimp
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
Instructions:
  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Squeeze in lemon juice, add lemon halves, onion, garlic, salt, and crab boil. Turn heat down to a simmer, cover, and cook for approximately 10 minutes.
  • - Combine potatoes and sausage in a pot and simmer covered for 20 minutes. - Add the corn and continue to cook for 10 minutes. - Remove from heat, stir in the shrimp, and let sit covered until shrimp are pink, about 5 minutes. - Drain and serve with melted butter for dipping. - Optionally, reserve the flavorful broth for cooking rice or other soups.
