Elevate Betty Crocker™ yellow cake mix by infusing it with the unique blend of green tea and five-spice powder for a truly extraordinary fusion dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • Vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1 cup cold strong brewed green tea
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons whipping cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons five-spice powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup flaked coconut
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and line 24 regular-size muffin cups with paper baking cups.
  • Prepare and bake the cake mix according to the instructions on the box for cupcakes, using oil and eggs, but replacing water with tea. Allow the cupcakes to cool for 10 minutes, then transfer them from the pans to cooling racks. Let them cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer to blend butter and vanilla on medium speed for 30 seconds. Switch to low speed and gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, until well combined. Mix in 1 tablespoon of whipping cream, five-spice powder, and salt until the mixture is light and fluffy. If needed, add remaining whipping cream, 1 teaspoon at a time, until the frosting reaches a smooth and spreadable consistency.
  • Frost cupcakes with a decorative swirl and sprinkle with coconut on top.
