Elevate your burger with French bread and au jus for a touch of elegance. Magnifique!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 package (1 oz) dry onion soup mix
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 8 diagonal slices French bread (1/2 inch thick)
Instructions:
  • Preheat gas or charcoal grill. In a 1-quart saucepan, combine 1 cup water with 2 tablespoons of soup mix. Bring to a boil, then lower heat, cover, and simmer as you prepare and grill the patties.
  • Combine 2 tablespoons water with the remaining soup mix in a medium bowl until thoroughly mixed. Add the ground beef and shape the mixture into 4 1/2 inch thick oval-shaped patties.
  • Grill the patties over medium heat for 11 to 13 minutes, flipping once, until the center reaches 160°F. In the last 2 minutes, toast the bread slices on the grill for 1 to 2 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Serve each juicy patty nestled between two slices of crusty French bread and alongside a flavorful hot broth for dipping.
