Spicy grilled turkey burgers with Monterey Jack cheese, featuring canned green chilies and fresh jalapeno pepper for extra flavor and heat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 0.25 cup minced sweet onion
  • 1 (4 ounce) can mild chopped green chilies
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • 1 fresh jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
Instructions:
  • Get your outdoor grill ready by preheating it to medium-high heat and gently brushing the grate with oil.
  • Mix together turkey, onion, chilies, cilantro, garlic, jalapeno pepper, cumin, oregano, cinnamon, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until well combined. Shape the mixture into four 1/4-pound burgers.
  • Grill until perfectly cooked, about 6 minutes per side. Check with an instant-read thermometer – the burgers should reach 165°F (74°C) in the center.
  • Take off the heat, layer Monterey Jack cheese slices on top, and cover loosely with aluminum foil until the cheese melts, about 2 to 3 minutes.
