Spicy marinated grilled fish steaks topped with zesty salsa. Get ready for a flavor explosion!
Ingredients:
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped (1 1/2 cups)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (2 tablespoons)
  • 1 medium avocado, peeled, coarsely chopped
  • 1 small jalapeño chile, seeded, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 lb halibut or other firm fish steaks, 3/4 to 1 inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
Instructions:
  • Combine all salsa ingredients in a medium bowl, stirring until well combined. Chill in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes until cold.
  • For large fish steaks, slice them into 6 serving pieces. In a shallow glass or plastic dish, combine all the remaining fish ingredients. Add the fish to the dish, ensuring it is evenly coated with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, but not more than 2 hours.
  • Preheat your grill for direct heat. Take the fish out of the marinade, keeping the marinade aside. Grill the fish over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, basting with the marinade 2 to 3 times and flipping once, until the fish easily flakes with a fork. Discard any leftover marinade. Serve the fish with salsa.
