Charred lemons and limes juiced and mixed with sugar for a refreshing summer grilled fruit limeade.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 8 lemons, halved
  • 8 limes, halved
  • 4 cups water, divided, or to taste
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • ice cubes
Instructions:
  • Heat up the grill to medium and lightly oil the grate.
  • In a saucepan, gently press halved lemons and limes cut-side down into the sugar.
  • Place the saucepan with the remaining sugar on the grill. Add 2 cups of water and whisk over the heat until the sugar is dissolved into a syrup. Allow it to cool.
  • Grill lemon and lime halves, sugared-side down, until nicely browned, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Grill the lemon and lime slices until nicely browned, about 30 to 60 seconds per side.
  • Squeeze the juice of halved lemons and limes into a large pitcher. Mix in the syrup and 2 cups of water gradually, adjusting for sweetness. Serve the limeade over ice in glasses and top each with a grilled citrus slice for a delightful touch.
