Satisfying hamburger casserole with creamy, cheesy pasta, veggies, and ground beef - perfect for a comforting weeknight meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 0.5 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 0.25 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 0.25 cup chopped carrot
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (8 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (8 ounce) package bow-tie pasta (farfalle)
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.25 pound shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef with a sprinkle of salt and black pepper until it's browned and crumbly, around 5 to 7 minutes. Remove and discard any excess grease. Introduce onion, bell pepper, carrot, and garlic to the beef mixture, cooking and stirring until the onion is lightly browned, approximately 15 minutes.
  • Combine tomatoes, tomato sauce, mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar with the beef and vegetable mixture. Season generously with salt and black pepper. Simmer on low heat for approximately 45 minutes until the sauce thickens and flavors meld beautifully.
  • Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • - Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook pasta until al dente, stirring occasionally, around 12 minutes. Drain and transfer to a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  • Ladle creamy mushroom soup over pasta, layer with beef and vegetables, and finish with a generous sprinkle of Cheddar cheese.
  • Bake until the casserole is bubbling and the Cheddar cheese is melted, about 45 minutes in the preheated oven.
