Creamy stovetop mac and cheese with rich Gruyère cheese, ready in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon grated or very finely chopped garlic
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese (8 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary leaves
Instructions:
  • Prepare and drain macaroni according to package instructions.
  • In a 10-inch skillet over medium heat, melt butter until fragrant. Whisk in flour, salt, and garlic, cooking for 2 to 3 minutes until mixture turns golden and smells nutty. Stir constantly for best results.
  • Pour in the milk and stir continuously with a whisk, making sure to scrape the bottom of the skillet until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens. Take the skillet off the heat, then add the cheese and rosemary, stirring with the whisk until everything is smooth. Finally, mix in the drained macaroni.
  • Garnish with extra rosemary, for extra flavor.
