Luxurious macaroni gratin baked to golden perfection after soaking in milk, cream, and Gruyere cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1.25 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese, divided
Instructions:
  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni until halfway done, about 4 minutes, then drain.
  • In a large bowl, mix heavy cream, milk, and half of the Gruyere cheese. Add elbow macaroni and stir until well combined. Season with salt and pepper. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 24 hours.
  • Allow the macaroni mixture to come to room temperature for 30 minutes to an hour, then transfer it to a 2-quart baking dish and sprinkle the remaining Gruyere cheese on top.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Bake until beautifully golden and perfectly crispy in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
