Delight in a cheesy pizza casserole that will make you grin.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 can (8 ounces) pizza sauce
  • 1 can (4 ounces) sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)
  • 1 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/4 cup very hot water
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease four 10- to 12-ounce casseroles.
  • In a skillet, sauté ground beef, onion, and bell pepper until beef is browned; drain. Add pizza sauce and mushrooms, bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes. Divide mixture into individual casseroles and top each with 1/4 cup cheese.
  • Combine the Bisquick mix and very hot water in a bowl, then vigorously beat for 20 seconds. Transfer the dough onto a surface dusted with Bisquick mix and gently roll it to coat. Shape the dough into a ball and knead about 10 times until smooth. Divide the dough into 4 balls, then pat each ball into a circle the size of the casserole diameter. Cut a steam vent in each circle using a knife or cookie cutter. Finally, place each circle on top of the beef mixture in the casserole and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until very light brown.
