Delicious and simple hamburger macaroni dish with savory ground beef, onions, tomato sauce, and macaroni - the ultimate comfort food for weeknights!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups uncooked macaroni (use rice pasta or gluten-free pasta for gluten-free version)
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped (or mixed chopped green onion greens and yellow onion)
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • Pinch chili pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 large can (28 oz) of diced tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt  and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Begin by bringing a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt for every 2 quarts of water. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions.
  • Sear ground beef and onions: In a skillet over high heat, brown ground beef in olive oil, stirring occasionally to allow for browning. Once beef is mostly browned, add onions and cook until softened, about 4 to 6 minutes.
  • Enhance flavors: Sprinkle in celery seed, a pinch of crushed red pepper, and seasoned salt. Introduce canned tomatoes followed by Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to blend all ingredients. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Drain the pasta, saving 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water.
  • Combine the drained macaroni and parsley with the cooked dish. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Adjust consistency with pasta water if needed. Season with freshly ground black pepper and salt to your liking.
