Cheesy beef macaroni skillet: a simple, flavorful weeknight meal.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 pound lean ground beef, or more to taste
  • 0.5 small onion, minced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 8 ounces reduced-fat processed cheese food (such as Velveeta®), cut into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons reduced-fat sour cream, or more to taste
Instructions:
  • Prepare all your ingredients.
  • In a hot skillet, sauté ground beef with onion, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until beef is browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off excess grease before serving.
  • Turn up the heat. Pour water into the skillet with the ground beef. Cover and let it come to a boil. Add macaroni to the boiling beef-water mixture. Cover, reduce heat to medium, and cook for 5 minutes. Stir, cover, and cook until macaroni is tender, about 5 more minutes.
  • Incorporate processed cheese food into the ground beef and macaroni mixture until it's nice and melted. Take it off the heat, then mix in the sour cream.
