"Potato-crusted beef bake with savory gravy and melted cheese for a comforting meal."
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups frozen shredded hash brown potatoes, thawed
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (.75 ounce) packet dry brown gravy mix
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
  • Combine hash brown potatoes, oil, and black pepper in a large bowl, ensuring they are thoroughly mixed; firmly press the mixture into the bottom of the baking dish and set aside.
  • In a hot skillet, sauté beef with garlic powder and onion powder until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes. Discard any excess grease.
  • Combine water and gravy mix with the beef in a pot and bring it to a boil. Then, lower the heat, cover the pot, and let it simmer until the liquid evaporates, for approximately 5 minutes. Mix in 1/2 cup of Cheddar cheese, and spread the beef mixture over the hash brown crust.
  • After 15 minutes in the preheated oven, sprinkle 1/2 cup of Cheddar cheese on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is lightly browned.
