Tropical chicken wings with pineapple juice and honey glaze.
Ingredients:
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 0.5 cup cider vinegar
  • 4 cups canola oil for deep frying
  • 3 pounds chicken wings, tips removed and wings cut in half at joint
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup pineapple juice
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and heat oil in a deep-fryer to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and coat it with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Season chicken wings with aromatic garlic salt and let them sit for 10 minutes. In a large plastic bag, add cornstarch and coat the wings, a few at a time. Remove excess cornstarch, dip wings in beaten egg, then coat with cornstarch once more. Fry wings in a deep fryer until they reach golden perfection. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine vinegar, pineapple juice, ketchup, honey, and soy sauce. Bring the sauce to a simmer. Next, place chicken wings in a bowl, pour most of the sauce overtop, and toss to coat, reserving some for basting.
  • Arrange chicken wings on a baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes, then brush with remaining sauce, flip, and bake for 20 more minutes.
  • Place the wings beautifully on a platter and generously sprinkle with sesame seeds and fresh green onions for an elegant finishing touch.
