Create a romantic heart-shaped pepperoni pizza topped with love for a special Valentine's Day or any cozy pizza night with loved ones.
Ingredients:
  • For the herb pizza sauce
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • For the pizza
  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • Flour, for dusting the counter
  • 10-12 large-diameter (about 1 1/2 inches) pepperoni slices
  • 12 ounces low-moisture mozzarella, shredded (about 3 cups)
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 500˚F, ensuring your pizza stone gets nice and hot in the process.
  • Prepare the herb pizza sauce by blending all ingredients in a medium bowl until fully combined. Set aside for further use.
  • Create heart-shaped pepperoni: Fold each pepperoni in half and cut an angle near the top of the fold using a paring knife or scissors. Trim around the edge to shape the point of the heart. Keep the pepperoni trimmings for later use.
  • Shape the pizza dough: Roll out the pizza dough into a large 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface. To create a heart shape, choose between carving out a cleaner heart using a dough scraper, kitchen scissors, or pizza cutter, or use your hands for a thicker crust heart with a more rustic shape.
  • Spread 1/2 cup of herb pizza sauce on the dough placed on a floured pizza peel. Add reserved pepperoni trimmings, shredded cheese, and heart-shaped pepperoni slices.
  • To beautifully bake the pizza, effortlessly transfer it onto the pizza stone using a pizza peel. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges turn golden brown and the center is melted. If using a baking sheet, expect a slightly longer baking time of about 14-15 minutes. Top it off with fresh basil leaves for added freshness. Allow the pizza to cool briefly, slice, and serve to enjoy a delightful meal. If you enjoyed this recipe, please consider leaving us a star rating below!
