Create delicious homemade pop tarts with your favorite jam flavors for a fun breakfast treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (15 ounce) package refrigerated pie crusts
  • 0.25 cup strawberry jam, divided
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon colored decorating sugar, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • On a lightly floured surface, straighten the edges of the pie crusts with a rolling pin. Cut each crust into 8 rectangles of equal size.
  • For each square, generously spread 2 teaspoons of flavorful strawberry jam towards the edge. Place another pastry square on top and press the edges together with a fork to seal in the jam. Trim the edges using a knife if preferred, then carefully transfer the filled pastries to the baking sheets.
  • Bake until edges are a light golden brown, around 7 minutes in the preheated oven. Let cool on the baking sheets.
  • Combine confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. Spread the frosting over cooled tarts and finish with a sprinkle of colored sugar.
