Upside-down banana cake with buttery brown sugar topping - irresistibly moist and delicious dessert for every occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 0.66666668653488 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4.5 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 3 medium bananas, sliced 1/4-inch thick
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 medium overripe bananas, mashed
  • 0.33333334326744 cup sour cream
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease an 8-inch square cake pan.
  • Evenly sprinkle brown sugar across the base of the pan, then dot with butter pieces.
  • Place the pan in the oven until the butter has melted, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Once melted, stir and spread the mixture evenly on the bottom of the pan, then arrange the sliced bananas to cover the bottom. Set aside.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl, creating a tantalizing blend of flavors and aromas; set aside for the next step in your culinary masterpiece.
  • Use an electric mixer to blend white sugar and butter in a large bowl until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla, mix until fully integrated. Stir in mashed bananas and sour cream. Slowly incorporate flour mixture until just combined. Pour batter over sliced bananas in the pan and even out the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 30 minutes before inverting and slicing.
