Indulgent chocolate cake perfect for celebrations, easily customizable with your favorite toppings like fruit or candy.
Ingredients:
  • 1.125 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1.25 cups white sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup finely ground hazelnuts
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 5.5 ounces creme fraiche
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup strawberries or other berries for decorating
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease a heart-shaped baking dish or fluted tube pan.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to whip the butter until smooth and creamy. Gradually add sugar, followed by eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, incorporate ground nuts, cinnamon, cocoa powder, and creme fraiche into the batter, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  • Combine the flour and baking powder by sifting them together into a bowl. Then mix the dry ingredients into the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake in the oven until a toothpick comes out clean, about 50 minutes. Let it cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes, then run a knife around the edges. Carefully invert onto a plate or cooling rack and cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, add chocolate chips. In a saucepan, heat cream until boiling. Remove from heat and pour over chocolate chips. Let sit for a minute, then whisk until smooth. Mix in vanilla extract. Cover ganache with plastic wrap and cool at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
  • Drizzle the rich ganache over the cooled cake and let it set for a brief moment. Garnish the cake with colorful candy or luscious fruit.
