Indulge in homemade fig jam in just 15 minutes with this quick microwave recipe for fig lovers.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups diced fresh figs (6-10 figs, depending on the size of the figs)
  • 1/2 cup seeded, peeled orange, diced
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar (reduce if you want, though it won't set as well)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons finely grated orange zest
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter
Instructions:
  • Combine figs and orange with sugar in a large ceramic or glass bowl, stir, and let sit for 30 minutes to macerate.
  • To cook the fruit mixture, place it in the microwave on high for 15 minutes. Pause to stir every few minutes. After about 6 to 8 minutes, when the mixture starts to boil, stop to stir. The mixture will start to thicken around 13 minutes. Check for desired thickness by spooning a bit onto a chilled plate or observing how it drips off a spoon. Adjust the cooking time as needed to reach a jam-like consistency, reducing down to 2 cups from the initial 3 cups.
  • Transfer the jam into jars, making sure to leave 1/4 inch of space at the top. Let it cool to room temperature before refrigerating. Your delicious jam will last for several months in the fridge.
