Create a decadent French onion dip by combining balsamic caramelized onions with sour cream and mayo. Perfect for serving at parties with crispy chips.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cups chopped yellow onions (from about 2-3 onions)
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:
  • For rich caramelized onions, sauté chopped onions in olive oil until golden brown in a large pot over medium-high heat. Keep them moist by adding water if needed. Stir in balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook uncovered on low heat for 25-30 minutes until perfectly caramelized. Cool slightly before adding to the recipe.
  • Mix together sour cream, mayonnaise, caramelized onions, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Season to taste. Chill before serving with potato chips.
