Elevate your party with a creamy, rich, and slightly sweet homemade French onion dip, surpassing any soup mix version.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1.5 cups chopped onion
  • 0.75 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground white pepper
Instructions:
  • Assemble all the ingredients.
  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt; cook and stir until onion is caramelized and golden brown, around 20 minutes. Take off the heat and cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Combine sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, white pepper, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt in a bowl.
  • Mix in the chilled onions, then cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours before serving.
