La Scala salad: A Hollywood favorite from the 50s gets a modern Australian twist. Layered ingredients turned into a dome shape featuring French onion dip dressing, BBQ chicken, and crispy bacon.
Ingredients:
  • 4.60 gm olive oil
  • 3 shortcut bacon rashers, finely chopped
  • 40.00 ml French onion dip
  • 40.00 ml light Greek-style yoghurt
  • 21.00 gm lemon juice
  • 20.00 ml finely chopped fresh chives
  • 1/4 iceberg lettuce, finely shredded
  • 1 Lebanese cucumber, diced into 1cm pieces
  • 1/2 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 165.00 ml chopped cooked chicken
Instructions:
  • In a small frying pan over medium heat, heat oil. Cook bacon, stirring occasionally, until golden and crisp, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the dip, yogurt, lemon juice, and half of the chives. Season with salt and pepper, then stir well to mix everything together.
  • Combine lettuce, cucumber, onion, and chicken. Mix well.
  • In a medium bowl, layer remaining chives, bacon, and lettuce mixture, gently pressing to pack. Transfer salad to a serving plate and enjoy.
