Create a delicious slow cooker caramelized French onion dip for the perfect party appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 40g butter, chopped
  • 3 large brown onions, halved, thinly sliced
  • 40.00 gm water
  • 2 shortcut bacon rashers, finely chopped
  • 20.00 ml malt vinegar
  • 8.00 gm brown sugar
  • 300g tub sour cream
  • 250g spreadable cream cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 6.10 gm Worcestershire sauce
  • 61.88 gm light whole-egg mayonnaise
  • 20.00 ml finely chopped fresh chives
  • Assorted vegetables, to serve

Instructions:
  • In a medium frying pan over medium heat, melt butter until sizzling. Add onion and caramelize for 15 minutes until golden. Pour in water and cook until evaporated. Toss in bacon and cook until crisp for about 2 minutes. Finish by adding vinegar and sugar, stir until sugar dissolves, then serve.
  • Reserve a quarter of the onion mixture. Transfer the rest to a slow cooker, then mix in sour cream, cream cheese, garlic powder, and sauce. Cover and cook on HIGH for 45 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes until smooth and slightly thickened. Finally, stir in the mayonnaise. Enjoy the creamy goodness!
  • Transfer to a beautiful serving bowl and sprinkle with the flavorful onion mixture and fresh chives. Enjoy with crisp vegetables and crunchy crackers.
